During a hike on New Year's Day, with no snow but a sub-zero temperature, the Elf decided to pose for a few pictures in the shadow of a huge uprooted tree- its root system and earth torn up off the granite when a hurricane toppled it.
I should something about what the model was doing here: Ingrid was moved to tears by the damage Hurricane Juan had done three months earlier, to the trees on the seaward slopes of Halifax Harbour, and she wanted to express a dryad mourning for her trees, lost among the exposed roots. These shots were her idea, her reaction to the devastation. It was too cold to do more than a few images, however.
